Chora Ios Island Greece pictureThe Ios Village "Chora" sunset. One of the most beautiful villages in the Cyclades. Built on the slope of a hill, Chora represents the typical Cycladic architecture with plain whitewashed cube houses clustered to each other. This architecture is constructed to protect the people from  the extreme weather. In former times the Chora provided ways to escape and protect the inhabitants from invaders and pirates! Above Chora on the slope the windmills remind you of fomer days when the islanders used the power of wind efficiently to make their windmills work. Nowadays at a standstill, they represent a tourist attraction.

Ios 2003  FEW WORDS ABOUT IOS ISLAND...  Ios is in the south of Cyclades in Greece, a group of islands located in the Central and Eastern Aegean Sea. It is famous for it's wild night life and beautiful beaches. The island has only one main village "Chora", at winter the population is 1,500 residents while at summer it can go up to an amazing 15,000! The warmest months are July and August, with average temperatures of 28°C during day time. However the "Meltemi" (north east wind) brings some fresh air and cools you down. A legend says that one of the ancient remains on Ios is the tomb of Homer.
